Industrial technology is undergoing the most significant transformation since electrification. Artificial intelligence, IoT, digital twins, autonomous robotics, and edge computing are fundamentally reshaping how things get made, moved, and powered. But the conversation about these technologies is broken.

On one side, you have vendor marketing departments promising that their platform will "revolutionize your operations" with AI. On the other, you have legacy trade publications running recycled press releases and surface-level coverage that tells you what happened but never why it matters or what to do about it.

Industry 4.1 exists to fill the gap between hype and reality.

What We Cover

We cover four beats: Manufacturing (smart factory technology, robotics, quality systems), Logistics (supply chain intelligence, warehouse automation, fleet management), Energy (grid modernization, industrial energy optimization, sustainable operations), and Production (process automation, additive manufacturing, digital production systems).

Across all four beats, our focus is on AI and intelligent automation — the technologies that are actively changing how industrial operations work today, not in some speculative future.

How We're Different

We go deeper. Our articles are written for people who actually run operations — plant managers, supply chain directors, engineering VPs, and CTOs. We assume our readers are smart and experienced. We don't explain what a PLC is. We explain why the new generation of AI-enabled PLCs changes the economics of process control.

We're independent. Industry 4.1 is published by Apex 8 Studios. We accept advertising and participate in affiliate programs, but our editorial coverage is never influenced by commercial relationships. Our editorial standards page spells this out in detail.

We're opinionated. Our editors have perspectives, and we share them clearly in labeled opinion pieces. We believe good journalism requires a point of view — not just reporting what happened, but interpreting what it means.

What's Coming

We're publishing 4–6 articles per week across news analysis, deep dives, interviews, buyer's guides, data briefs, and opinion columns. The 4.1 Briefing newsletter ships free insights twice weekly. And our VIP tier offers exclusive analysis, daily briefings, and implementation playbooks for subscribers who want the full depth of our coverage.

If you build things, move things, or power things — and you're trying to figure out how AI fits into your operation — you're in the right place.

Welcome to Industry 4.1. Signal over noise.
